Thin Places

by corpsbara

Corps Bara’s Project Company is very excited for it’s upcoming season which is using dance to explore and envelop the theme of “Thin Places”. Four choreographers are working with the company from August-February with inspiration drawn from this concept. The company will perform during the Alberta Culture Days at the Leighton Centre September 29th and 30th, at various community events throughout the Fall and in a final performance at the Mount Royal Nickle Theatre from February 6th-9th. With Calgary receiving the delegation as the Cultural Capital of Canada for 2o12, Corps Bara is excited to be part of this celebration with our season of “Thin Places.”

Within Celtic Christianity, a thin place is anywhere the border or the boundary between nonmaterial reality and material reality becomes very thin, virtually transparent, porous, malleable. A thin place is anywhere we experience the sacred; where the veil momentarily lifts, and we behold, experience, the Spirit within which we live, and move, and have our being. (Marcus Borg)
